Topic > Historical Analysis of Forrest Gump - 1253

As Forrest Gump's famous catchphrase says, "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get (sic)." This cannot be held truer than during the Cold War era (1947-1991). The main players were the powerful nations of the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Although the film shows the era of the 1940s through the 1980s, the Cold War was only a fraction of it. It wasn't a real war, but more of a standoff between two strong nations, the United States and the Soviet Union. It leads to our involvement in Vietnam, the moon landing, and government scandals. This was all illustrated in the movie Forrest Gump. America was rapidly changing not only its people, but also our government. It showed how policies and people would change focus in a few decades. Although the events were seen through a fictional character, they were accurate in illustrating the mood and emotions of what the world was like back then. While it is possible that only one person was present at all of these events, it is unlikely that anyone was, so that part of the movie is not true, otherwise most of the facts are true. The differences between the film's story and real life are mostly small details and are changes made to add Forrest to all the events. The film was historically accurate and was able to show how over time each decade had its stepping stones. Although no one person could have been present at every single event depicted in the film, the possibility of this happening is the basis why the director made such references to many historical events. Forrest's life is filled with many adventures and historical accounts, some of which have the power to change the world and make the film intertwine... middle of paper... water enters fresh water and destroys many of the shrimp population. One of the mix-ups that the movie messed up though was when they put the shrimp on the boat where they were already dead and processed when in real life they come to life on the ship and then processed on the boat. After achieving great success, he is hit with the news that his mother is dying, this may not seem like a historical event, what Lieutenant Dan with company money changes history, he invests in a fruit company which turns out to be being Apple Computer that produces them Forrest, extremely wealthy, takes some of his wealth and gives it to Bubba's mother. Apple Computer at the time they invested in the company was taking off, they were growing their company and getting their products recognized. Forrest Gump still manages to keep his head high in difficult times and manages to live his life as if he were
