Joseph Stalin is one of the most famous figures in history. It all began in 1875, with a young Caucasian, Vissarion Ivanovich (Ivan's son) Djugashvili, leaving from the village Didi – Lilo, near Tiflis, the capital of the Caucasus, to settle in the small Georgian countryside town of Gori. There he started a small shoemaking business. Vissarion Djugashvili was the son of Georgian farmers who were still surfers just ten years earlier. He was just the slave of a Georgian landowner. He would never be free to leave his home village and become an independent craftsman. Surely the day came when Vissarion had to leave his village in a mood of hopeful uplift. He had become a free man and now, as an independent craftsman, he hoped to achieve some prosperity. In Gori he married a girl of similar origin: Ekaterina, daughter of the serf George Gheladze, from the village of Gambareuelli. Ekaterina got married when she was only 15 years old, which was not right at that time. Then, in a dark house of one and a half robles, Ekaterina gave birth to three children in the years from 1875 to 1878. All three died immediately after birth. Ekaterina was just twenty years old when she gave birth to her fourth child on December 21, 1879. By a twist of fortune this child would grow into a healthy, robust and willful boy. At baptism he was given the name Joseph; and so the local Greek Orthodox priest, who acted as chancellor, recorded the appearance in this world of Joseph Vissarionovich Djugashvili, who later became famous under the name Joseph Stalin (Deutscher, Isaac 12) According to this site "Joseph Stalin (1879 - 1953 )."
