HollsEnvironmental ProblemA huge environmental problem we have is with our oceans. We are not doing enough to protect the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef is a collection of 2,900 individual coral reefs. There is so much pollution added by people that it will cause damage to our waters. Like overfishing, it is drying up underwater life. Another problem is that so many tourists around the beaches and oceans leads to more trash and ships. And many years ago people hunted whales for their blubber. Coral is also bleached. We should have a limit on how many pounds of fish each person can have and what kind of fish is most widely available, which we now have a website for that, which tells you what fish are most available. We also have an age limit and requirements, but that still leaves all the people who don't look at the website fishing and getting as much as they want. We could end up wiping out an entire species, and other fish also depend on food in the sea, so we could wipe out a lot more than one species. And it is obvious that many people like to eat fish because it is good for you and more fish more more money for the fisherman. But in reality, we are taking food away from the meal of the larger fish, so they are also starving and dying slowly; they are taking too much too fast that they can't repopulate fast enough. Overfishing first began in the 1800s, when people used the blubber as lamp oil; which eliminated much of the whale population. They now have a geographic channel website that tells you what fish you should and shouldn't catch for the safety of their population. Rubbish is water pollution of our fish and marine life in Bonny Island in Africa. It's a piece of paper... in half... beyond the ones we can save. They take photos of the accident and the current oil-covered animals, then wash them and put them in a safer place. Overall there are many problems in our oceans and we have been the cause of them, we need to care about them and understand and gain knowledge about our mammals and their needs too, not just our own. These problems cannot disappear but they can be helped to become better, not perfect but better. There are many things we can do to make a difference, even the little things help. If we do nothing and depend on others to do everything when we could contribute too, nothing will hardly change, every person counts. Every person can contribute and make a difference. Even if we just watch what we buy and pay more attention to where we throw our rubbish, this will make a difference.
