The first step in regenerating historic fabric must be the recognition of the values of existence and the desire to protect them. The recovery process begins with knowing the opportunities and benefits of each neighborhood and understanding different aspects of the struggling neighborhood. Nowadays one of the problems faced in regenerating historic fabrics is the juxtaposition of valuable buildings with abandoned and deteriorated buildings and areas which causes damage to these valuable buildings. Abandoned areas pose a threat to reviving historic fabrics, but with smart solutions this treatment can be converted into an opportunity for brown development. The analysis of design approaches in these wastelands is the subject of this research. This thesis consists in understanding the evident and hidden values in the historical center of Theran, in analyzing the new building built in this area and in trying to find the best approach to design in this fabric a cultural and historical value, therefore maintaining the obvious and hidden values and by accepting a new role and strengthening and updating the previous role, he will still be able to continue living. Any intervention in the physical structure of the historical fabric will irreversibly change its history forever. So it is necessary to plan for cities that have the capacity to change and provide continuity with the past. The design approach adopted in the historical fabric should be an approach to improvement. New buildings must preserve the value of previous buildings, and should also represent the architecture belonging to its time. Just as the maintenance and protection of existing buildings in the historic fabric keep the historic urban form and space intact, the new construction is an exhibition...... middle of paper...... of research. Designing a questionnaire and evaluating the answers given, based on the rates of people believing in the structure, neighborhood characteristics and sense of place identities, is part of the research. The main feature of this research is the choice of an inductive approach. In-depth analysis of the interviews, with the aim of understanding the main issues, needs and long-term interactive process. Therefore, by combining different data sources, it is possible to describe the effect of new buildings on historic fabrics.
