I personally support the Leroy Reed acquittal verdict because I believe that even though he broke the law, he should not be charged with the crime of weapons possession. He was then asked to say yes to a visit from a parole officer. Reed was then asked again if he was a convicted felon and he said yes. Another compelling piece of evidence was that after Reed showed the sheriff the gun's sales receipt as a form of identification, Reed voluntarily surrendered the gun. Reed knew he had the gun, but willingly handed it over. I believe Reed should not be convicted for being willing to surrender the gun at the sheriff's request.
