What most people assume is that Softball was created by women because they wanted to play American sports, but in reality Softball was created by men. Once Softball was created, it took a while for America to warm up to the idea of ​​women playing on the dirt rather than being at home in the kitchen, but over time Softball built respect and a title. In 1877, a group of men were listening to the Harvard-Yale football game, when they reportedly believed that Softball had been created. A Yale supporter threw a boxing glove at a Harvard fan who made contact with the glove with a swinging pole, which led random citizen and inventor George Hancock to yell, "Let's play ball!" George created his own version of a field glove and used the bottom of a broom handle to use as a bat, then sketched out a diamond on a gymnasium floor to create a softball field.
