Topic > Case Analysis: Chesapeake Bank - 2678

The organization selected for analysis in the six-month human resources management project is Chesapeake Bank (Financial Services and Chesapeake Branches). The bank currently employs 180 people in various positions from senior management to non-executive positions. Chesapeake Bank offers a variety of financial services, from basic personal checks to business loans. The bank's 11 branches are located in the northern and central parts of the Chesapeake Bay peninsula, with the main office located in Kilmarnock, Virginia. The structure and distribution of employees must be included. Dianne Hall and Pat Lewis were the two people our group chose to interview. Dianne was chosen because she has held a significant role at Chesapeake Bank for the past 30 years and is now a senior vice president. She is the only woman in Senior Management and has contributed significantly to the success and growth of Chesapeake Bank. Pat was chosen because she heads the human resources department at Chesapeake Bank. She is very knowledgeable about the processes used there and has been a substantial asset to the bank and its employees. The interview process began by organizing ten interview questions compiled by our entire group. Once this was done, Ashleigh took the initiative to email questions to both Dianne and Pat. This was the only interview conducted for our case study. Our group chose to use Chesapeake Bank's employee handbook, annual report, and corporate website as organizational sources. We chose these three sources because they give us a better understanding of Chesapeake Bank as a whole. The Chesapeake Bank organizational life cycle is now in its final stages of development. The bank has been in business for quite some time and has passed... half way... it will be useful for our career to follow because we have learned that management must remain congruent with the company's HR strategy. However insignificant a decision may seem, it contributes to the bigger picture that the manager may not see. Works Cited Chesapeake Bank.
