Rinomata Villanelle"Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night" by Dylan Thomas is a magnificent poem that expresses great power, beauty and sweetness, in which tone and emotion are exquisitely blended. His poetry illustrates various ways of approaching death. In expressing this, Thomas believes that one should not accept and give to death, but advocates living until one's last breath. Thomas' message is an appeal to his sick and dying father, imploring him not to give up, but to fight death. Thomas further suggests that a great man must not die in silence, but live fully and experience life to the fullest of his abilities and capabilities. This poem is not only about fighting death, but also identifies how people may not be living life to the fullest. This poem will be analyzed in three sections, the first of which serves as an introduction to Thomas' message. Secondly, I will go into detail about Thomas's tone and emotion within the poem. Finally, I will analyze the four stanzas that help symbolize Thomas' image of his father. Thomas uses a great deal of tone and emotion in his literary works, particularly in this poem that I studied. His tone is very emotionally limited, that is, he expresses his feelings with instinctive emotion. Thomas' tone is very urgent and possessive as he explains each phase his father experienced. The poem tells how the writer idolizes his father, which defines the greatness of his love for him. Thomas implies in this poem that life is important; especially how you live it, in the sense that there is no greater feeling than living life happily, to the fullest and with absolutely no regrets. Thomas identifies each characteristic that his father resembles in the corresponding rooms. The poem is constructed to… at the center of the paper… to find Thomas's message of celebrating life and this meaning of tone and expression. Thomas's famous poem about valuing life introduced me to the meaning of a true glorified life. Thomas urges us not to go out in silence and to continue to rage against every fleeting moment of life; to live life to the fullest. My research on Dylan Thomas was enlightening as I found that Thomas' literary works took many forms, although he was most successful with his poetry. Dylan Thomas' poetry is the most significant and well-known throughout history. WORKS CITED Bishop, Elizabeth. “2 VILLAS”. Journal of Literary Cavalcade 53.4 (2001): 26.Booth, Alison and Kelly J.
