Reconciliation Action Plan The goals and visions behind my Reconciliation Action Plan were to bring together both sides of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians in equality and harmony. Since the colonization of Australia there has been a great divide between the two sides which has caused serious consequences for the Aboriginal people. My way of contributing to this is to create better understanding, restore trust and eradicate racism as a positive way to help bridge the gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians. The reason for this report was to explain the steps taken to create and implement this action plan and the results. My three actions were established to help realize my vision of bringing the two sides together creating equality and harmony. I first wanted to create a better understanding of Aboriginal history, culture and people within my family and friendship groups. I have addressed this issue by speaking not only in person but also on social media about the past struggles of Aboriginal people and reducing the stigma and misconceptions surrounding Aboriginal people. The second action was to restore trust between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians by involving friends and family in public activities and events related to understanding what gaps need to be filled and brought together. My third action plan was to eradicate racism, and to contribute to this long-term cause, I signed up as an activist for constitutional recognition through ANTAR. As this campaign aims to change the Australian Constitution to include Aboriginal people and also to remove the sections which have the power to prevent Aboriginal people from voting and the sections which give the Australian Government... middle of paper... rial treated in the he Aboriginal unit that I studied at the University of Notre Dame Fremantle, Aboriginal people have had a long history of being subjected to dispossession and discriminatory acts that has gone on for too long. By standing together we are much more likely to achieve positive long-term outcomes and a better future for all Australians. ReferencesANTAR. (2014).
