People undergo elective and emergency surgeries every day. The medication needed for these surgeries is administered by an anesthetist. Anesthetists must ensure that their patient receives the appropriate care they need for pain management. Anesthesiology is one of the highest paying jobs on the market. As a result, the training required to become this highly skilled doctor requires a long investment of time. On average, a student must attend school eleven years to earn a degree in anesthesiology. Job projections predict a promising future for those seeking employment in this field of study. Anesthesiologists carry out very important tasks for the well-being of people. Anesthetists take care of patients' bodily signs during surgery and also pain management during surgery (“Doctors” par. 10). During the surgery, anesthetics or drugs are administered to the patient. These drugs help relieve the pain that the patient feels during surgery or any other procedure (“Doctors” par. 10). They will also position the patient on the operating table to make him feel comfortable and surgically accessible for the surgery (“Anesthetist” What is paragraph 1). Most use local, intravenous, spinal, or caudal methods to inject the anesthetic for sedation; the anesthetist prepares the patient for surgery (“Anaesthetist” What is par. 1). They also check the patient's body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and breathing rate (“Doctors” par. 10).
