How do questions help ensure the success of a project? Successful leaders must be skilled at asking team members questions that will provide helpful answers. As stated: “If people aren't giving you helpful answers to your questions, maybe you're asking the wrong questions” (Dennis, 2011, para. 1). Questions are essential to keeping a project on track and are used to help identify any issues or constraints that could affect the outcome of the project. If a leader fails to ask questions, they won't know if the project faces challenges. If your project is facing a challenge, the number one question to ask is “Can we solve this” (Pink, 2010, para. 4). Leadership and management will not be able to help solve problems if they do not exist. The only way to know if their project is facing challenges is to simply ask the right questions. Sometimes leadership asks the wrong questions, which results in receiving irrelevant answers. Someone might ask the following question. “Do you know what time it is” and the question will be answered with a simple yes (Dennis, 2011, par 3). The person who asked the question really wanted to know what time it was and not whether or not you knew the time (Dennis, 2011). By asking the question incorrectly the individual received an answer but not the one he was looking for (Dennis, 2011). This example highlights the importance of being specific when asking any type of question. The more specific the question, the more detailed the answer will be. The more information leadership and management have about the project, the more likely they are to be able to help resolve any problems or constraints. A leader in uniform is likely to see his project fail,...... middle of paper......see. If leadership can do these things, it will have a recipe for success. References Bryce, C. E. (2011).
