A weed crosses the path of four sheriffs marching to their deaths; they march without fear and with guns in their belts. As they march, all the people of the city watch in amazement at what is about to happen. Finally, at the end of their march, the four sheriffs arrived at the OK Corral. Waiting for them are four men wearing red bandanas who begin to stare at the sheriffs. Still staring at each other, silence begins to fall between the eight men. In the midst of the silence, the eight men put their hands closer to their belts with their guns. With his trigger finger itchy, one of the sheriffs winks at one of the men wearing the bandana. Surprised by his anger at the sheriffs' wink, the man wearing the bandana began reaching for his gun. Before he could get his gun out the marshals, who winked, had pulled out their gun. The silence is broken as bullets begin to fly. The scene pictured above is from the movie Tombstone, which is perhaps one of the greatest cowboy films ever made. From the 1930s to the 1960s, the cowboy film genre dominated cinemas around the world. People paid to see John Wayne ride in the saddle and Dean Martin, armed with a gun, take down some rotten bank-robbing bandit. Although an unknown number of cowboy films were made between the 1930s and 1960s, cowboy films are virtually extinct in today's world. I rarely see a cowboy movie poster or trailer in theaters. Instead of seeing advertisements for cowboy films, I come across posters and trailers for horror films. How can a genre where justice doesn't prevail be more popular than cowboy movies? The creator of the monstrous man-eating dog Cujo, the crazed hotel killer Jack Torrance and the miracle convict... middle of paper... ... came day after day and competed for the best places." The description of Torture medieval scenes of a guillotine execution sounds very similar to how audiences watch horror films.
