Topic > The Journalist's Career - 914

To become a journalist you have to be ready for late nights, irregular hours and heartbreak. Being a journalist is not easy. A lot can happen in a few seconds and it's almost like watching a soap opera. Many people think that being a journalist means writing a little story and interviewing one or two people, but that's not the case. Journalists have staggering deadlines to meet and could find themselves in the most dangerous situations at any moment. It seems like a busy lifestyle, but the fact that they get to travel all over the world and meet so many different people makes it worth it. Reporters, correspondents and news analysts keep the public updated on what is happening. at international, national and local levels (“Reporter” par.1). They report the news for newspapers, magazines, websites, television and radio (“Reporters” par. 1). Journalism is a very open field with careers in print journalism, broadcast journalism, online journalism, and industrial and corporate communications (“Becoming” par.1). While carrying out these jobs, journalists must listen to their editor and the indications they give ("Reporter" par.10). They also spend a lot of time in the field providing news and investigative stories. After doing this they also face huge deadlines to meet because they want to be the first to report on the story (“Reporters” par.1). Working as an intern is a good way for a journalist to prepare and know which field of journalism to specialize in (“Becoming” par.5). Most journalists work in certain types of media. For example, they work on television, radio and websites (“Reporters” par.10). Some often carry out research in specialized fields such as sports, art and crime (“Reporter” par.3). Lots of journals…half a sheet…new people, trying new things and traveling all over the world. Journalism is a job for someone who loves adventure and is willing to try new things. I'm always up for some adventure in my life, so I feel like this is the job for me.
