PlaystationOne of the biggest giants in the world of video games today is Sony and its revolutionary Playstation. At the moment their Playstation 3 is in circulation all over the world, but before last year there was the original Playstation and the Playstation 2. This was the first video game system that used CDs as discs for games, instead of the usual cartridges used by Nintendo, Sega, Atari and many other companies. It all started as a collaboration with Sony and Nintendo in 1988 trying to create an extension for the Nintendo Super Nintendo console called Super Disk, as most companies were about to start producing systems that way, and it was also much cheaper to create. Since Nintendo realized that Sony would get all the rights to its games, they split and didn't finish creating the new addition. This is when Sony continued with the CD concept and after a few years created Playstation. After Sony separated from Nintendo, Sony began researching and developing the original Playstation in 1991. It was released in the United States on September 9, 1995 and was also known as Playstation X otherwise known as PSX. It played CD-ROMs and was the first video game system to start this trend. It was released for $299 in the United States and the original games cost thirty dollars. It was revolutionary with 4 buttons on the shoulder or back known as "R" and "L" buttons, it also had more than one joystick along with a grip pad on the sticks. The graphics unit was separate from the actual CPU and had a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and was in 2-D. The actual computer inside was a 32-bit RISC, containing 2 megabytes of RAM and 1 megabyte of video RAM. The game library was almost 1,000 and was used...... half paper ......if in the last fifteen years it was the most technologically advanced and contains many parts of a real computer. It contains a high-quality hard drive, CPU and graphics card. This is how the Playstation and its other consoles relate to technology and computers. Works Cited Bellis, Mary.
