As part of my second semester at university examining research and its implications, I explored numerous methodical case studies to illustrate my knowledge in selected research, regarding skepticism , validity and ethics. One of the case studies I examined was Goldacre (2009). Often research can be distorted by presenting incorrect information which results in contradictions as well as altering the meaning of the research conducted. Therefore, “seeking through methodical processes to add to one's own body of knowledge and, hopefully, that of others, through the discovery of nontrivial facts and insights” (Sharp, Peters, & Howard, 2002). Additionally, through reflective learning in other research, I have come to understand the importance of validity. To illustrate, using the Goldacre (2009) article above in examining the validity and ethical stance of this particular statement, “the way you approach interviews and other research participants…manage your data ..." are fundamental from an ethical point of view (Davies 2007, pp. 44-6). Therefore, I realize that the researcher's duty is to expose such accusations despite little scientific evidence. This is achieved in order to produce the truth behind the research by allowing awareness to those who believe this to be the case. According to the British Educational Research Association (2004, p.12) it is essential that research adheres to the guidelines specified by Bera, otherwise research may result in the misconduct of “falsifying evidence or research findings. Since this was the case for the article mentioned above. Furthermore, through reflective learning about other research carried out using qualitative and quantitative data “Institute for ...... middle of paper ......2011]. Available at: .Lengert, S.
