The only way to stop bad fishermen is to do something. The Department of Environmental Conservation and the Coast Guard are working together to crack down on fishermen who don't follow the rules. Very strict laws are passed and heavy fines are imposed against people who do not follow the rules. Fishermen must realize that not only are they taking risks by not respecting the laws, but they are also endangering the environment. Sooner or later the fish population will decline dramatically. (“Saltwater Fishing”1). Some experts working in the fishing industry recommend that fishing boats be allowed out only a few days a month. Additional restrictions are placed on the fish, such as limit and bag size. Some experts even recommend satellite surveillance of boats. (“overexploitation of fishing in our oceans”1). Many precautions are being taken and experts are trying to gather ideas that can help solve the problem. Experts have great ideas and one of them is to widen the mesh of fishing nets so that smaller fish can escape and live to reproduce. Some fishermen might get angry, but it's for the good of the environment. The laws get stricter with the season and it will soon be much more difficult to fish. Soon you won't be able to just go out and fish. To go fishing now the individual must have a boating safety certificate and a fishing permit for saltwater and freshwater fishing depending on the individual's preference. The Coast Guard is handing out large fines to those who don't follow the rules hoping the individual doesn't break the rules
