The human condition is the experience of being human. An important aspect of the human condition is the search for gratification. The search for gratification is seen constantly. As the famous actor Chuck Norris says, “anything worth achieving will always have obstacles in its way and you have to have that drive and determination to overcome those obstacles.” The pursuit of gratification is the journey in which people try to achieve their goals. The search for gratification is an aspect of the human condition revealed by writers and artists in their works. Authors use the human condition to connect with the emotional sides of readers. The human condition can also be considered a common characteristic in the world. An interesting aspect of the human condition is the search for gratification. Everyone in their life aspires to or for something. It is in our nature to set goals and strive to achieve them. There are many examples of this in the book Mice of Men. Mice of Men is the story of a man and his slow, lovable cousin who wander from town to town looking for work. Their ultimate goal is to get enough money to retire on a small farm on their own. As he thinks about retirement, Lenny says, "George, how long will it be before we have that little place to live on the old LAN?" (John Stienbeck Pg 56). This is a great example of satisfaction seeking because George and Lennie are working hard to acquire the necessary funds for their retirement. This is part of the pursuit of gratification because George and Lennie are like many people today who work hard to achieve their goals.
