In this text Amelia Hill provides an example of what teenagers have to endure these days and how girls are influenced by pop culture. This text shows different sources of information on the mental disorders and behavior of adolescents of our generation. I personally don't agree with some of these facts as they are not very realistic and stereotypical. The statements Amelia Hill makes about females and males in this text are statements I strongly disagree with. Hill provides information about the girls and the crime rate has increased by fifty percent, and girls are responsible for twenty-one percent of the crimes that come to court. One idea that really got me thinking was from a survey conducted in the UK that got results from fourteen to twenty-one year olds “one in three girls and one in two boys think there are circumstances in which it would be acceptable to hit a woman or force her to have sex." Personally I think that girls should not have different rights than men and therefore, regarding this statement, I don't like that people think that it is okay to beat a woman or even force her to have sex, as it is wrong and unfair towards women's rights. It gives the idea that men are more dominant than women. The results of this survey frustrate me and give the reader the idea that men have more power than women. I believe that women have the same rights as men and should not be treated differently. People might even be influenced by these results and think that it is okay to do this to their partner or even to a stranger who sees it. In everyday life examples even in New Zealand there are cases where women are raped or even if there is a couple arguing, they will think it is okay to hit a woman in the face. A m...... middle of the paper ...... action and this also refers to the message I received. Women think they have to be skinny or pretty to be a model and people judge them, then they lose confidence just because of that comment. Bottom line, the facts aren't right and I don't agree with any of them. Twelfth grade students might find this text interesting, because you see her point of view on feminism and also learn many things from this text. From the examples I have provided in this report it appears that I do not agree one hundred percent with what Amelia Hill has to say, other students may think the same thing or think that what Hill has to say is very true. Overall I think this text about feminism is negative towards women and I think other women might agree too. So I strongly advise against this text for year 12 students because there are so many stereotypes .
