When it comes to my political beliefs, I am torn between being a Republican or a Democrat. The reason for this is because I never showed enough interest in learning more about politics. Regarding my political ideology, I feel more liberal than conservative. In theory, ideology is defined in two ways: “(1) an organized set of political attitudes based on underlying principles” and “(2) a cohesive set of beliefs that form an overall philosophy about the role of government” (McAtee). An individual's political ideology can be formed by public opinions and socialization agents (McAtee). According to the quiz I took on “Politopia.com,” the results showed that I was “Centerville,” meaning I am somewhere between being a Democrat or a Republican, or that I support both sides and yet oppose to both. As I said before, I'm torn between being a Republican or a Democrat, because there are some things I support and some I don't support on both sides. These things include abortion rights, the death penalty, gun control, education, and welfare. Regarding abortion rights, the Democratic Party is in favor while the Republican Party is against. I support the Democratic Party on abortion rights. According to the article “Conservatives vs. Liberal Beliefs,” “A woman has the right to decide what happens to her body… The decision to have an abortion is a woman's personal choice about her body and the government must protect it.” Right." In my opinion, some situations such as rape could lead a woman to become pregnant and have an abortion, and I believe that it is the woman's decision whether to keep the baby or not. As for the death penalty, the Democratic Party opposes it. .. middle of paper... they can't judge based on their political beliefs, especially if they're not sure which side they actually favor. It really depends on where and how their political beliefs were formed. I guess I can't precisely to decide why I have never really been exposed to the political world.
