Topic > Idealism and truth in an individual's life - 1206

Truth and idealism can lead individuals to an enlightened path, however, with questionable ideals an individual's life can be persuaded inaccurately. In the Shakespearean drama Macbeth, the main characters are led astray by their own misguided ideals, which have created considerable disorder among themselves and in the country of Scotland. The ambition combined with the unjust forces of Macbeth and Lady mostly led them to deadly consequences. Macbeth and his wife are absorbed in the witches' prophecies that directed them both to irrational thoughts and absurd actions. These actions defined both characters throughout the play and had a huge impact on their demise. The ideals of the powerful couple, together with their overbearing ambition, lead their reality towards an inconceivable future and final death. The ideals in Macbeth's life were stimulated by various situations. He was exposed to a supernatural experience that furthered his ambition and pushed him onto an uncertain path. The witches had predicted that Macbeth would claim the title of Lord of Cawdor, which they had correctly prophesied. Their next presumption was that Macbeth would become king, followed by the final prediction that Banquo's descendants would be heirs to the throne. Since the witches' prediction came true, Macbeth felt anxious to establish a sense of control, knowing that he will be next to the throne. Macbeth displays devious ideals, as his choice to finish off the current King Duncan, was sporadic and heavily influenced by Lady Macbeth. “The false face must hide what the false heart knows” (I.vii.82). Spoken by Macbeth, he admits that his dishonest act is wrong, but he is still willing to persevere. Macbeth must act as if he is innocent of Dun's murder... middle of paper... cast as Malcolm becomes king. The truth about Macbeth is shown immensely towards the end of the play when his ideals are truly expressed. Macbeth's end was indisputably influenced by himself. The prophecies caused Macbeth to become non-sexual and led him to do evil for his own good. Prevailing ambition and stable ideals brought Macbeth and Lady Macbeth to their inevitable end. Both faced life choices that defined their character, strengthening true life ideals, which determined a path for their future. Macbeth's actions following the witches' prophecies, showed his true self, which represented how easily persuaded he was. The choices he made defined his character as they showed his transformation from a noble man to a monstrous killer. These decisions created a damaging path that ruined the couple's powerful relationship
