Julius Caesar was born on July 12 or 13, 100 BC in Rome, Italy. Nobody knows for sure which day. He was born into the Julian clan. His full name is Gaius Julius Caesar. Although Caesar's family was closely associated with the Marian faction in Roman politics, his family would be considered middle class by today's standards. Cesare married Cornelia around the age of 18. Cornelia was the only woman in Caesar's life to give birth to a legitimate child. While he was married to Cornelia, the dictator Sulla ordered Caesar to divorce Cornelia, Caesar refused, so Sulla placed Caesar on the list of people to be executed. For this reason Caesar hid. Caesar was eventually pardoned for the action. (McManus, 2011)In 79 BC Caesar saved the life of a citizen in battle for which he was given the civic crown (oak leaves). Caesar was sent on a mission to Nicomedes' embassy by his general to obtain a fleet of ships and was successful. Caesar was known as a powerful orator, so when the dictator Sulla died in 78, Caesar returned to Rome and began a career as a lawyer. Caesar advanced within the Roman political system. In 69 BC he became its financial advisor. In 65 BC he became assistant to the tribune. In 62 BC he became commander of an army. Once the army was finished, he became governor of the Roman province of Spain. Once he completed his term as governor, Caesar returned to Rome and was elected consulate. A year after entering the consulate, Caesar became governor of Roman Gaul. He held this mandate for eight years. While in the office of Governor, Caesar added France and Belgium to the Roman Empire, securing Rome from the possibility of Gallic invasions. Bhagat Singh is known for his courage, radical measures, fiery revolts and his vision for India's independence and future. Bhagat Singh guided the Indian youth towards achieving the goal which was India's independence. As a teenager Bhagat Singh was a voracious reader.
