“The fundamental core of a man's vital spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from encountering new experiences, and therefore there is no greater joy than having an ever-changing horizon, which every day has a new and different sun." (Chris McCandless) McCandless said this because he couldn't find happiness in his family, so he went looking for it. The book Into the Wild, by John Krakauer, was a book about a person named Chris McCandless, who couldn't find happiness in his family because they always provided him with all the material he needed. This led him to go out on an adventure or into the Alaskan wilderness. During his journey, he had read books in search of self-definition and therefore used the authors of the book as literary heroes to overcome the journey. It was really inspired by the writers. With inspiration he set out to find happiness, and so he went into the wilderness. It was there that he spent the rest of his days until his death due to poisoning. Many of his literary heroes inspired him to do what he did, but one stands out the most. Leo Tolstoy, considered one of the best novelists, Leo really inspired Chris because they had a life they could relate to. She also appreciated him because he had a realistic outlook on life. Chris McCandless needed inspiration for his adventure, so he looked to literary heroes as his guide into the wilderness. Chris McCandless threw himself into the adventure, not knowing what to do. He looked to his literary heroes for inspiration, and one he looked up to most was Leo Tolstoy. He admired Leo because they were both used to almost the same way of life. For example, “Leo's calloused habit...... middle of paper ......action made Chris's journey lasting. Leo's great inspiration for Chris made him go further and further, without his help, we don't know if he would have achieved happiness. All we know is that he died happily.
