Environmental issues: corporate perspective and government policiesComparison between the methods of controlling the environmental impact of corporate activities IntroductionAwareness of the importance of environmental conservation has recently become central in the life of companies decisions of social and corporate responsibility. The awareness that companies, especially manufacturing ones, play the largest role in environmental pollution has led to the adoption of policies aimed at reducing these negative environmental impacts. The growing global campaign to reduce global warming, resulting from greenhouse gas emissions, has increased pressure on companies to adopt serious environmental protection methods. The methods adopted by these companies differ due to the nature of the operations undertaken by an entity. The purpose of this essay is to highlight some of the methods adopted by companies to control the environmental impact resulting from their activities, as well as their similarities and differences. The development of fuel-efficient engines is one of the methods used by companies to reduce environmental pollution. The engines were developed to burn as much fuel as possible in order to minimize carbon emissions. Rajput (2005, p. 612) alludes to the fact that internal combustion contributes to the majority of air pollution through carbon emission. The engines come with features such as an idle stop-start system that shuts down the engine when the car is idling. Other measures applied in fuel-burning appliances include: the development of direct injection systems... middle of paper... "The economics of the upcoming spaceship Earth". In Jarrett H.
