Or you may even have been to a MAC store or seen makeup tutorials online. Think of your customers as if they were your canvas. Depending on the type of MUA you are, you might even create imaginative characters and special effects for theaters and films. Experienced MUAs play without rules. Makeup artists must have imagination. Some of the most famous and best around are Bobbi Brown, Keyvin Aucoin and Ve Neill. Makeup artists have a fun job; they have to be very creative to create new looks suitable for each client. The beginning of the art of makeup began over 6,000 years ago (Bailey, Ekate. "The History of Makeup Artistry"). It all began with the ancient Egyptians. “Around 4000 BC Egyptian wall carvings showed makeup on men and women” (Bailey, Ekate. “The History of Makeup Artistry”). Both men and women used kohl as eyeliner. They made up their eyes with a small smooth stone. For the powder and lips they ground carmine beetles which produced a red powder. During the Middle Ages people wore light makeup that made them look very pale, this was a sign of wealth (Bailey, Ekate. “The History of Makeup Artistry”). There are two different categories of makeup artists. The first category is cosmetic or fashion artists. Cosmetic or fashion artists usually work at makeup counters or prepare models for photo shoots. Their main goal is to make the customer look their best. Fashion artists have to work with designers to create a certain look, while cosmetic artists work with the client to get their... middle of paper... what kind of makeup artist you are your ultimate goal is to satisfy the customer.
