I recently finished reading the second third of the book entitled “The Pole” written by Eric Walters. This book is about a boy named Danny who has the adventure of his life. I was done reading until Danny and the crew reached Cape Sheridan and began unloading from the ship. The last part I read was when Danny and Captain Bartlett were heading to the campsite and Danny fell through the ice. I was on the edge of my seat as soon as I read that Danny had fallen through the ice. I really wanted to know what happened next. There was a lot more action and drama in the next part of the book and I really enjoyed it. Danny fell through the ice and started to panic. He started screaming for help but the Captain stood still and stared at Danny. Danny remembered what the captain had told him about not panicking and staying calm. Captain Bartlett began laughing when Danny discovered that the water was only 5 inches deep. He lent a hand to Danny and helped him out of the freezing water. When they reached the campsite Danny put on some warmer clothes, ran inside and drank a hot drink. In the days following camp everything was very calm and relaxed as everyone was still settling in and getting used to their new homes. As the day progressed the Captain called Danny into his cabin. Danny was nervous and worried about why he was called to meet the Captain. He did nothing wrong and obeyed the messages he was given. When he entered the Captain's hut he was asked to sit down and was offered a hot drink. The main reason the Captain invited Danny to a meeting was to ask him a very important question. He asked Danny this for as long as they were in... middle of the paper... ……tter. I also had to deal with that feeling of being double-minded about an issue in life, but not necessarily in the wilderness. There are always situations when my mother or father ask me to go to the store on my bicycle and get something for them. Before leaving the house they explain to me what I need to get and how it will look. When I leave the house I am very confident that I will be able to find the right item. When I get to the store I look for the item. In most cases there is a complication because I find two different products that seem very similar to the one my parents described. I'm always very afraid of choosing the item to wring out and having to go back to the store and return it. In some cases I buy both items because I'm not sure which is the right item. I've really enjoyed reading this book so far and really encourage others to read it too.
