Surprisingly, being a lawyer is not usually known as an extremely hassle-free job. lawyers have to learn to think very quickly and be light-hearted. Lawyers must stand by their client as long as the case progresses. Lawyers might hate everything this person did; however, the lawyer will do everything in his power to keep that person out of prison. Due to disputes there will always be a need for lawyers; there will always be conflict as long as there are opinions. Lawyers almost always fight an uphill battle; they have new competition not only for their cases but also for their work. Unfortunately, no job is safe because being a lawyer will always be a challenge considering there will always be someone smarter and younger who wants the job. In addition to the dangers of losing your job at any given time there are some difficulties. Lawyers who went to the smaller schools usually end up at the bottom. Only lawyers who come out of the Ivy League, some of the best universities, earn $160,000 (“What” par. 7). The average salary is approximately $139,110 per year (“What” paragraph 5). The hourly wage for being a lawyer is approximately $61.81, but different lawyers may charge different amounts of money (“Lawyer” para. 30). The top 10% of lawyers earned approximately $187,200 in May 2012 (“Lawyers” par. 4). Lawyers typically work full time with slow hours (“Lawyers” para. 2). To be a lawyer, you must be able to work unusual hours, overnight and overtime ("Lawyer" para. 15). To be a successful lawyer and not start with “grunt work,” students need to get into top tier schools. Once high school is finished, the student will quickly realize that they are only halfway there. After high school I'm halfway through my essay... in the first few years they'll never get a job, it's amazing. Lawyers are still trying to win for their clients and their records if they ever want a chance at big deals. Lawyers need to be able to think fast and smart, otherwise they will have someone younger and smarter taking that lawyer's place in the blink of an eye. Works cited "Lawyer".
