Topic > Abortion - 689

Abortion is a highly contentious topic in American culture today. There are two sides to this issue: pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life is exactly what its name says, this position is based on the belief that no unborn child should be harmed. Pro-choice believes that the child is part of the mother; therefore, the mother has the right to choose whether her child lives or dies. The value judgments and moral positions of these two sides are opposite. Pro-life believes that all life is sacred and should be valued, but pro-choice is about freedom for people already in the world and the comfort people can get in life. Pro-choice people believe that the comfort of the woman and her life is more important than the life of the child inside her. They do not believe that the fetus is a human being. Some people believe that the fetus is a human being and believe that it should not be killed unless the mother suffers physical harm. True pro-choice believers would say that even if the mother were harmed, the pregnancy and birth should still go ahead. Pro-choice advocates give many reasons for abortion, including pregnancy due to rape, monetary issues, teenage pregnancy, and women's rights. Even in the face of all these challenges, solutions can be found if you are willing to try. This is what pro-lifers and Christians should do and believe. Christians should defend the unborn and strive to protect them. The Lord represents the sanctity of life, not the convenience or quality of life. God loves unborn children as much as He loves children who have already been born. They are all precious in His place and He gets angry when someone is harmed or taken advantage of. According to the Bible... middle of the paper... receive salvation. Christians should make sure others understand their position and beliefs, but they should still love that person. They can still be friends with someone who has had an abortion and help them get through the next struggle, but they should live their life in a way where their friend will still know that they disapproved of their actions. They should be kind and loving when confronting others who are facing such decisions or who may have already had an abortion in the past. Ephesians 4:15 states, “Rather, speak the truth in love…” Christians must tell others the truth and let them know what God considers moral and immoral, but it must be done with kindness and understanding. They should never judge or condemn another person; this is God's work. Works Cited ESV: Study Bible: English Standard Version. Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2007. Print.
