Every good rider should know that there are three very important steps to take into consideration when preparing to ride your horse. The following three steps; Grooming, trimming and warming, if done correctly, should lead to a pleasant, trouble-free ride. Making sure your horse is fully groomed is the first step in making him comfortable. Making sure the feet are clean and free of pebbles or stones is crucial to preventing any injuries to your horse's feet. Next, remove any tangles or debris from the forelock, mane, and tail (the horse's bangs). Bearing in mind that the horse uses its tail as an insect deterrent, we want it to flow freely and be free to swat. Now let's brush our horse. Using a curry comb, first and in circular motions, work your way down the horse's neck, across its body and around the rump. This will loosen any buildup and dirt in the dirt.
