Microsoft Office impacts businesses in many positive ways. Microsoft Office can be used in any business environment. Word is used for typing, Excel for calculations, and PowerPoint for creatively visualizing a company's work. Microsoft is universal software; for a business to stay current, it must use Microsoft Office. Any type of business will find Microsoft Office as a suitable tool. For example, businesses can use Microsoft Word for memos and publications; a pet grooming business might use Microsoft Publisher to create advertisements. Microsoft Office is also very easy to use; each program features key tips to help the user achieve their goal. Today's business environment requires data sharing, mobile technology and fast communication; Microsoft Office provides the tools that allow businesses to do this. Although Microsoft is loved by many companies, in May 2010 it lost the title of the world's leading software company to Apple. It remains a strong asset for businesses, but competition remains. In the past, businesses had to manually create documents using a typewriter, which required a lot of time and effort; however, today the business world is fortunate to have modern computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, that aid in the creation of documents and management of business matters.
