TIMELINETimeline by Michael Crichton, was a very emotional book about time travel and what the "Dark Ages" were; they were like. Timeline also taught the basics of quantum physics that would make such a spectacular feat possible. As you read this book, prepare to dive into the horrible and dangerous year 1387. The timeline began with a group of scientists/archaeologists excavating the site of an ancient castle. This site was located in a French valley with two main castles, Castelgard and La Roque, a monastery and a mill. This was the site chosen by the ITC, a quantum research facility, to go back in time and do research. Through quantum physics, ITC managed to create a machine that sent objects and people into a parallel universe different from this one. This was the basis of the whole story. Professor Johnston, the leader of the excavation team, was curious as to how the ITC knew more about the site than he did. Robert Doniger, the owner of the ITC, decided to show the professor how they knew so much about the site. While the professor was back in time, he wandered into the open field and became trapped in the medieval world near the Dordogne River. Doniger then had the brilliant idea of sending some of the other archaeologists back to try to find Professor Johnston because they would know the locations where he would most likely be found. The group of four, Andre Marek, Chris Hughes, Kate Erickson and David Stern, flew to the New Mexico site to find the professor. During pre-tests to see him were physically able to go back through the machine, David Stern decided he wouldn't go because he didn't trust machines. All five, the other three archaeologists and the two guides returned to the Dordogne valley in 1387. Soon after arriving, a group of knights saw the futuristic people and cut off the head of a guide and shot them. the other guide full of arrows. This left the archaeologists alone to find the professor. They were immediately amazed by how the castles looked and how quiet it was. Facing many problems, they soon found out who the professor was in the medieval world and found him. However, it was a time of war that presented many difficulties in getting out, not to mention the fact that the machines had broken down at home and the ITC crew didn't think the shields would hold up..
