These typical stereotypes arise from the grades or average GPA we have. According to the website, the average GPA of Asians ranges from 2.88 to 3.26, which is the highest among all ethnic groups listed on the website. Another example is that Asians take a lot of extra classes. A few of my best friends, 2 to be exact, are now taking 2 to 3 extra math, SSAT, and TOEFL classes. That's why people think we're smart, especially when it comes to math. Another factor that contributes to these stereotypes is that Asian parents are very strict in studying. For example, my parents set goals for me to achieve mostly "A" and 1 "B" is allowed and if I fail to do so, there will be serious consequences.
