Over the years many scholars have debated the interpretation of the Koran on verses that refer to the hijab (veil). Some have argued that it is not fard (obligatory) and only Sunnah (choice). However, the majority won and it was decided that hijab is mandatory in Islam based on the verses of the Koran and the hadiths said by the prophet and transmitted by others. Misinterpretations can be made, albeit sometimes by the majority, and I think they have made an incorrect assumption in this matter. Nowhere in the Quran does it state that a woman should cover her hair. Some may say that hijab is clearly stated in the Surat noor and that there is no doubt about it. The verse that most people refer to is the one that says: "And tell the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not show their beauty and their adornments except what appears of them; that they let their breasts be veiled…” [Quran 24:31]. Modesty, respect, in those I believe in and understand that this was the meaning sent to us. Cover yourself, wear loose clothing, so you can be respected and not bothered by weak men in theirs. faith and who are easily tempted and consequently disrespect women instead of lowering their gaze as they are told to do in the Quran. The message is to cover up, just as the meaning of hijab means "to cover", to draw a "curtain". It means covering your body and being respectful. You go out wearing respectful clothes and don't seek attention, men will most likely lower their gaze and show some respect. Women nowadays talk about men as "animals" (disgusting) while flirting. and they behave vulgarly, which is sometimes true. I have to say I agree but at the same time I disagree. The central part of the card is very attractive to the opposite sex and therefore should not be revealed as if it has no value. We must look at the beauty of a person from the inside, from the heart, not just from the outside. One should be appreciated and judged not for what they chose to wear but for their personality. Hijab is a choice that some women or girls make for their safety, for more privacy or because it makes them feel comfortable and confident about themselves. It should be a choice though, and since we have not been shown that it is mandatory, countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran and Pakistan should remove their laws requiring every girl to wear a headscarf. Freedom of choice should be guaranteed in these countries. It is not required in Islam so it should not be imposed on anyone anywhere. Besides this, the beauty of Islam is its freedom, the choice it offers you, let it not be ruined.
