The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) is often referred to as “Obamacare.” This act was signed into law by President Barrack Obama on March 23, 2010. The PPACA will ensure all Americans have access to quality, affordable, and lower-priced health care. The government claims the law is fully funded and gives most Americans the quality health insurance they deserve. The objective of this law is also to reduce the deficit over the next ten years. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act says things will be different in the years to come. The changes resulting from this law began in 2010, but by 2014 the new insurance reforms will be put in place and bigger changes will be made. Seniors will receive better care than they have ever received before, and costs for them will go down. Second, the better treatments that older adults receive will lead to better outcomes with their diseases, and out-of-pocket payments are believed to decrease. Third, the elderly will also receive preventive counseling...... middle of paper ......4.Cohn, Michael. Doctors are opting out of Medicare at an alarming rate. Detroit: Greenhaven, 2013. GaleNet.
