People are strange creatures, we are born with our own free will; however, it's not something we realize we have until we're a little older. Once children reach the age where they begin to discover their own free will, that is, they begin to make choices about how to act, as long as adults or authority figures in their lives influence the choices they make but are not completely responsible. for the choices made by children. As an adult I feel that precisely because of the experiences we endure in our lives we are not fully responsible for the choices we make for the future. Criminals become criminals because of the choices they choose to make; While choices are a big part of why people become criminals, there are other contributing factors as well, such as what they were taught or the environment they grew up in both at home and outside the home, and the effects psychological that they have on them. Some criminals commit crimes purely by choice or so-called theory of choice. There is a man named Cesare Beccaria who lived from (1738-1794) was part of criminal justice reform and believed that people wanted to achieve pleasure and avoid pain. His thinking was basically that crimes must provide some pleasure to the criminal and that, to avoid crime, pain or punishment must be administered in an adequate amount to counterbalance the pleasure obtained from the crime. Cesare Beccaria's views are known as the classical theory of crime or today also known as the theory of choice.
