Watershed An individual with impressive credentials who will use her education to get her act together about water in her life! His desire is to know and implement a plan to reduce the water footprint of his home. The fact that she is trying to become a "water diva" is commendable and at the same time seems very daunting. To quote: “I would do it with honor and grace. As? I didn't know…” EddyAlthough it's been a while since he undertook the search, now he's starting to get serious. Apparently some of this time had been put to good use in researching the topic. The facts are many and varied accounts of water use and the science of how water works. What I found most touching was the paradox of value: it makes you think. Water Diva Challenge Action is the name of the game. The challenge has been accepted! It's time to get to work on planning how to achieve your stated goal. The parameters of the experiments are defined and the objectives set. There is some criticism about the love affair with bottled water. The goals: "... reduce our direct use of water, reduce our water footprint and make more informed decisions." Know How You Flow Now you need to define the parameters for the challenge. As with any experiment, you want to quantify what you are trying to measure. You need to get equipment and find experts who can help you in your quest to become a wiser water consumer. Some things are easier than others, but the measurements have begun!Big Foot“I consume, therefore I am.” This is an astute observation and a great play on Descartes. Apparently most of us don't think much about water use. The role of water in our lives cannot be underestimated. I've heard about using rainwater for gardening, but the green, blue... middle of the card rating... was a simple reconfiguration of the landscape to accommodate a water reduction plan. Simply create groups of vegetation that require the same amount of water to survive. So instead of watering everything at the same level, water only at the level needed by the plants in each zone, saving almost half of their irrigation water use! Tread LightlyWith many of the mechanical problems associated with water conservation, we must contend with use from consumerism. The author now delves into the analysis at the micro level. Everything is again examined in detail to identify any remaining gaps in the implementation of the plan. Light bulbs are changed, cracks are sealed, and insulation is installed resulting in savings from these inexpensive solutions that contribute to huge indirect savings on water use that, frankly, I had never thought about before reading this book .
