William Henry Gates III also known as Bill Gates was born in Seattle, Washington on October 28, 1955, the second of three children of Mary and William Gates II. Bill Gates has two sisters; she is halfway between an older and younger sister. His father was a prominent and successful Seattle lawyer and the young Bill Gates was expected to follow in his father's footsteps. His mother was a professor, regent of the University of Washington and president of United Way International. His grandfather was the vice president of a national bank and his great-grandfather was a state representative and mayor. Bill Gates showed his ambition and intelligence in his early life. His parents believed he was unchallenged in his public school and decided to enroll him in the high-achieving private school in Lakeside. Bill Gates initially began operating computers in the school. His mother was part of the committee that contributed the computer terminal to the school, which was connected by telephone to a local computer company. Bill Gates and a small group of students including his future business partner and also his childhood friend, Paul Allen, created the Lakeside Programmers Group and used all their time to seize every opportunity to discover the opportunities of new technology and educate yourself on the fundamentals of writing computer programs.
