The Use of Blogging in BusinessWhen you think of blogging, what comes to mind? For me it's about a group of people venting their problems to a large mass of people. They're keeping some kind of online diary. .When in reality Blogger wasn't even invented for that purpose. Evan Williams, CEO of Pyra, the company that created Blogger, said this: "We never designed Blogger as a journaling tool. I've always encouraged and appreciated more professional journaling." (Propson) For a while everyone has been fascinated by this phenomenon called blogging. When companies large and small began investigating this new medium and considering creating their own sites, consultants – and, yes, journalists – told them they had to get on the bandwagon. You have to have content, they said. You need community. This is what the Web is all about.”(Propson)After this information you can't help but be curious as to why haven't they heard of blogs in companies today? Where are they? How can they be used? One use of blogging I came across in my research was to use it as a way to keep your company informed. David Sorkin, an information technology law attorney and assistant professor of law at John Marshall Law School in Chicago, keeps a blog called lawblog.com. With this site you can update it every few days with information you have read that deals with laws and justice. Therefore other lawyers can use Sorkin's site as a database. (lawblog.com) I have found that most companies do not keep their blogs open to the public. Rather they make it accessible only to company members, which is logical. A company would not want anyone out there to be able to see how the company is doing. Alis Marsde......middle of paper......mostly blogs dealing with stocks and bonds. People love information to be just a click away and blogging literally does that. Work cited by Propson, David G.
