He was selfish and careless for not telling his family and friends about his plans. Chris did not write to anyone in his family while he was away and did not add anything significant in his diary about someone who loved him. His family was left heartbroken with no answers as to why he left. No one knows why he didn't do his best to make his journey one from which he would emerge alive. Now he is dead without answers. His family will have to suffer for the rest of their lives and wonder what they could have done to change what happened. Chris was so self-centered and didn't want to get out alive.
