“The Tiger” - The Magnificence of a Tiger Many of the world's creatures have exquisite and beautiful characteristics in their appearance that put us in a state of awe and wonder. According to the speaker of "The Tyger", the tiger is an admirable looking creature and leaves the speaker in awe and amazement. “The Tyger” consists of a series of rhetorical questions that attempt to reconstruct the process of creating the formidable animal (“The Tyger by William Blake explained”), a trochaic tetrametric rhythm with a catalepsy, vivid imagery, an apostrophe , an allusion and a convincing use of metaphors. Employing all of these literary devices helps the speaker conduct a powerful meditation on who, how, where, and how the tiger was created. And the sum of it all comes down to one question: “What immortal hand or eye, [D]is framed by thy fearful symmetry?” This last line makes the central theme of the poem a question: who dares to create humanity even if all humans have their flaws, some are evil and some are benevolent? As presented by the speaker, there are a series of questions that are asked by the speaker to the tiger in each of the stanzas to find out under what conditions the tiger was created. For example, “The Tiger” is a theological examination of who exactly it was that created such a fiery and powerful creature as the Tiger: “What immortal hand or eye could frame your fearful symmetry? (Dickie). This makes the reader think about the idea that if the tiger was a magnificent and frightening creature, then the creator must be more magnificent and frightening than the creature. In the second stanza the speaker asks the tiger “Into what depths or sky......in the center of the card......ion. Although there are many questions asked in this poem, the central one is "Who dares to create human beings while some are innocent and others abuse innocents?"
