We are all encouraged from an early age to tell the truth. We can improve our lives with this one rule, as well as maintain a trustworthy image. However, deception and lies constantly creep into our lives. Deception has been called a terrible and abominable thing that we humans do. But deception is considered only in this sense. However, there are always two sides to a story. Deception, defined in the English language, is the act of not admitting that something is true. This knowledge is installed in many children at an early age. People are told time and time again not to lie. Yet this simple rule is so broken that a man could not count the number of lies told by the human race in a single lifetime. So the question is: am I saying that the use is acceptable and not prohibited. People cannot forget that when used in a broader sense, the results can be horrendous. If people lied all the time, the world as we know it would probably fall into chaos. The inability to trust one's fellow man is enormous. Not having confidence does not help a person in any possible way. Think about how much more difficult the world would be if no one could trust each other. Imagine the golem from Lord of the Rings, now you have simply imagined almost the entire population if this were to happen. The world moves forward with confidence. Whether it's something as small as telling someone they actually have a stain on their shirt, or something as big as admitting a huge fault. The reason we teach children that deception and lies are wrong is that the truth keeps us sane. The more we limit the lies told, whether small or large, makes life so much better. A personal example of why cheating is bad comes from when I was thirteen. My friend Mason and I were at his house during a snowy day in December. We were going sledding and having a lot of fun, but then his little sister came to us and wanted to join in on our fun. So we said yes and thought of a way to joke with her, simply because we thought it would be funny. We had just made this ramp in the snow that was really big and neither of us wanted to try it. Thinking it would be funny to see her sister fly through the air and scream, we decided to tell her to go straight down the hill on the ramp. We grabbed some Pam from the kitchen cabinet and used it to spray the bottom of his sled. He didn't know there was a ramp and asked us if it was safe to go down with the Pam on his board. We rang out with a loud, “Yeah, okay, and we've done this hundreds of times.” With a fading smile, he went down the hill like a bullet. We were dying laughing until we did it
