Fear, anxiety, emotional or mental tension, and financial stress can lead to lack of sleep (Some 2010). Constantly thinking about what needs to be done or what will be done can prevent your body from relaxing at night and focusing on sleep. Instead, energy is spent focusing on the next day's tasks and repeating the process all over again. These stresses that keep individuals awake at night can later turn into something more serious such as sleep disorders. Some sleep disorders, including insomnia and sleep apnea, are the most common. Insomnia is a problem characterized by difficulty falling asleep or difficulty staying asleep (Buysse 706). Sleep apnea consists of episodes of interrupted breathing during sleep (sleep apnea).
