Since its creation, the Coast Guard has never been considered more important to the people for approximately 200 years. Why didn't they ever notice? How come they do all the dirty work in the ocean and no one seems to care? Well, the Coast Guard is why the United States was protected, so we can go to bed at night knowing nothing will happen to us. There are many reasons why the Coast Guard is so important to society. The U.S. coast forms an important part of our military and pursues certain objectives over the ocean to protect us from harm. There are also people who are aware of the situations that the Coast Guards are going through and who help them get involved in some of the smaller activities that the Coast Guards enjoy. There are many types of coast guards around the world that all pursue the same goal: to protect the ocean from all illegal activities. Another reason is how the Coast Guard began and how it became so important. Finally, how Gunner's Mate is one of the most important positions in the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is extremely important to us and should receive more credit for what they do for us in the blue ocean. The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is a branch of the United States Armed Forces, one of the seven uniformed U.S. armed forces. services. It operates under the Department of Homeland Security in times of peace and may be transferred to the Department of the Navy by the President at any time or by Congress in times of war. From February 25, 2002 to the present, the Coast Guard has been placed under the Department of Homeland Security, reporting directly to the Secretary of this department. The USCG is divided into two operational commands: one center… middle of paper… they can continue the search for illegal activity in the ocean, while protecting the people they love and care for at home. The Coast Guard is a very significant part of our society in the United States and many other countries that have Coast Guards. Without them, we would have more criminal activity in our oceans, crossing from one country to another, most likely into the United States. From rescuing people in the oceans, to stopping drug trafficking, every day they are at sea looking for illegal activity that could invade the United States and people don't seem to care about this problem at all. Today there are civilians participating in this conflict, spreading awareness of what is happening outside the continent.
