"To be, or not to be" (3.1.57) is usually all one thinks of when talking about Hamlet, but Shakespeare intended the play to be much more than This . Hamlet is a play based on the royal family of Denmark. The protagonist, Hamlet, is the prince and son of King Hamlet. The play begins with the mysterious death of King Hamlet and the queen's quick marriage to Prince Hamlet's uncle. Hamlet is very saddened by the death of his father. Shakespeare's playwriting skills from the early 1600s have resonated to this day for multiple reasons. Hamlet addresses social concepts from Shakespeare's time to modern times. The ideas he portrays in the characters of the play teach lessons to today's younger generations. Despite being written over 400 years ago, Shakespeare depicts themes that apply to today's society through the actions and thoughts of the main character, Hamlet. Hamlet's frequent use of sarcasm, most often in a negative way against his mother or uncle, is used by Shakespeare to give the viewer insight into Hamlet's true identity and also to prove that Hamlet is not mad . Hamlet uses his sarcastic remarks to give the viewer the impression that he despises his mother and uncle without revealing this to the queen and king. An example of this is when he speaks face to face with his mother: "'It seems', ma'am? No, it is. I don't know 'it seems' (1.2.76). Throughout his long response to his mother's simple answer question (“If it is, why does it seem so peculiar to you?”), Hamlet conveys his sarcasm through the word “seems” subtly as he continues to talk about his sufferings and afflictions .with the King and Queen happens through sarcastic comments... in the middle of the paper... being labeled with procrastination as his tragic flaw He never had the time needed to complete the task Since Claudius sinned again shamefully and was banished, Hamlet never had a chance to finish his assignment Procrastination is defined by Websters Dictionary as “delaying doing something until later because you don't want to do it, because you are lazy. ". Hamlet certainly wants to kill Claudius, and he is not lazy. How can you conclude that procrastination is Hamlet's fatal flaw when he technically never procrastinated? He never had the chance until it was too late for him. Hamlet is witty and quite brilliant, but falls short in social areas. Cannot get along with anyone except perhaps his father (whom we will never see, but yet is far from despicable). In the end, Hamlet is human just like everyone else.
