For social science majors, reading this book can provide a glimpse into exactly what biases there are in the field we hope to enter and what mistakes are commonly made. It provides a long list of examples of ways that numbers can be confusing, and it's a good warning for those of us who want to become social scientists. I've been able to take away knowledge from it about how to be critical of the statistics I see and I think it's complementary to what I've learned in some of my political science classes, including this one. While I'm not exactly the audience Best was trying to reach, he managed to at least show me what I've learned simply by being a part of the social sciences, that statistical sources and facts are skewed, and that it takes effort to be an informed member of this society .
