In most cases, the person who is harshest towards the college student is the student himself. Zinsser says students feel “the transcript has become a sacred document.” He states that students put so much pressure on themselves to get good grades without worrying about how they look in person (Zinsser). Today, students put the same pressure on themselves as before, but with the competitive job market, they must go far beyond simply earning a degree. Employers are looking for students who have hands-on experience through internships, have earned good grades, and have extracurricular involvement on and off campus.
