Emily LiJeremy LakoffENG 2014/16/14Dehumanization of StudentsTechnology has become such a significant part of every aspect of most students' daily lives. Regardless of generations, people are constantly losing touch with what it means to be human. This happens because we have tools that do not allow us to think for ourselves. Instead, these tools think for us and that's because technology is changing the way we think. These effects do not only affect adults, but especially students and teachers. The role of technology plays a major role when it comes to dehumanization of students. The role technology plays is to dehumanize students, making them less social and inefficient. What role does technology play in the school environment? There are many ways to answer this question, especially through studies conducted by these academic sources. These studies will be examined closely through the use of technology in a classroom setting. There are many tools that have numbed humans into believing that technological progress is all we have. What is the meaning of "dehumanization"? in this case it means that an individual is imprisoned in his human characteristics and this makes them become mechanical. There are many factors that we have not yet noticed, because technology has already started to dehumanize us. In this case, we are more inclined to become one with technology because email, tablets, iPhones and laptops have dominated our world modern, thus making us virtually available. There is certainly more to technology, but the main focus will be on how technology dehumanizes students in an educational environment. Students are turning into machines, because their cr...... middle of paper ......ludes parental involvement, sociopolitical events, decision making, and technology. "(Espinoza 32) From this we mainly want to recognize that technology is also a part of what shapes and influences students. However, our concerns are directed at how technology affects students? “One effect of technology is that Millennials they will exhaust themselves by seeking information electronically before they will seek out and ask for an authority figure. (Espinoza 31) Technology makes students less self-reliant Students work less hard because they are immobilized by the computer. Computers are becoming more intelligent than students they cannot do simple searches without having to use Google as a resource. Students are connected to technology which creates inefficient learning because information is not absorbed but remains temporarily in the mind.
