Thanks largely to this course, my desire to be a more globally competent person has grown from a small seed to a mighty oak tree, seeking to spread its roots and provide refuge to others who know that since I have been given much, it is my obligation to give to those who have been given less. I intend to increase my global awareness and assist others through a variety of endeavors throughout my life, many of which will be in the very near future. For the purposes of this assignment, I have chosen to focus my timeline on events that will unfold over the next five years. My first goal is to work at the English Language Institute teaching English as a Second Language to international students through conversational English during the fall. semester of 2014 and hopefully throughout the rest of my college years. I am currently attempting to accomplish this goal and although the job has not been listed in the state of Oklahoma's hiring system, I am hoping that by contacting the right people I will be able to receive this position. I anticipate that although the work may test my patience at times, it should be an exciting opportunity to learn about other people's cultures and to be an ambassador for my own. I would love to do this because it will allow me to explore a passion, help others reach their full potential, while giving the benefit of becoming more global through their stories. Most of the income from this work would be set aside for a future goal, which we will talk about later. In addition to providing me with a source of income, this work will result in a greater understanding of other countries. My second goal is a bit clichéd, but still beneficial; I would like to spend the summer of 2015 traveling around Europe. I would like my young... half of paper... to make me more globally competent, it will provide me with the tools needed to be a successful agriculture ambassador to other nations. Lastly, I would like to join the Peace Corps in 2020. My international experience and education should make me an ideal candidate for their program and having the opportunity to stay in a community for a longer period of time would allow me the most impact. The two-year contract would allow me to fully immerse myself in their culture. I know that Peace Corps training will leave me well prepared when I enter a community, and I know that I will leave that community with a better understanding and appreciation of our world. I look forward to an exciting future in international agriculture and know that with the determination and support of the Oklahoma State family, all of these goals can be achieved..
