Luckily for me, I grew up in a non-fundamentalist church where women in church positions were not looked down upon but instead highly valued and respected. So as I grew up, I never thought differently until I started studying the Bible more thoroughly and discovered that very often the Bible discourages women in ministry. However, there is more to the Scriptures on the subject than meets the eye, and people often forget to consider the difference between what is eternally significant and what is simply culturally relative. I'm going to take a deeper look at what was happening at that time throughout the Scriptures and what was really trying to be expressed through them.
