DisneyThe Walt Disney Company is a well-known animation company founded by Walt and Roy in 1923. They initially started as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. The company is best known by Walt Disney Studios. Walt Disney creates two first animations: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Subsequently they produced Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo and Bambi. Disney also owns 14 theme parks around the world. It also owns and operates the ABC television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, A+E Networks, and ABC (Walt Disney: A Short Biography, n.d.). After the death of Walt Disney, the studio was in trouble but was saved with the arrival of Michael Eisner as CEO and Jeffrey Katzenberg as president of Walt Disney Studios. The studio has produced many successful animated films such as Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King. The Lion King generated more than $1 billion in revenue for Disney (ALCACER, COLLIS, & FUREY, 2010). The Walt Disney studio was an open studio and had a collaborative environment that relied on all employees to generate story ideas. The animators received compensation based on the success of the film, which makes it difficult for other companies to attract Disney animators. The success of The Lion King seems to be the greatest among those produced by other films after it was a flop. The absence of Katzenberg, the creative forces of the Disney studio, who was not promoted to president by the CEO of Disney, created many negative outcomes for companies (ALCACER, COLLIS, & FUREY, 2010). Later, Katzenberg, Steven Spielberg and David Geffen founded the animation studio DreamWorks. Disney was struggling and failing to produce successful films at the time, which led to the alliance with Pixar.
