Rankin is responsible for the technical implementation of the new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software installed for the Western and Eastern Sales Offices in both cities . The software is absolutely necessary to improve follow-on sales for his company, Reflex Systems. Mr. Rankin's current situation is extremely difficult because team members are the most important component of any project. What exactly is the situation? First, there is a lack of passion among team members which can be linked to a lack of communication. The lack of passion may be linked to the long hours of work this project requires. Team members are unaware of the project's due date, which can cause frustration. One team member, Sally, has already left the team. When she asked Mr. Rankin “quality of life,” he said persist. Mr. Rankin kept wondering what was wrong with their team, but he also needed to ask himself what was wrong with his leadership style. It currently has two teams one in Chicago and one in Los Angeles. The members of these teams are different. While Chicago is overwhelmed and stressed, Los Angeles is less stressed and meets deadlines. What should Mr. Rankin do next? I will analyze his current leadership style and the current problem with the team, then make recommendations on steps Mr. Rankin should follow, and finally, describe the resulting environment after my suggestions have been implemented. The current leadership style used by Rankin is autocratic leadership. As an autocratic leader, Rankin retains all authority. He makes the decision assuming that team members will comply and does not care about team members' attitudes toward...... middle of paper......yle. Because the teams are extremely different, Mr. Rankin may have one style for the Chicago team and one style for the Los Angeles team. After all my recommendations are implemented, Mr. Rankin's project will run more smoothly. He will have two leadership styles, one for Chicago and one for Los Angeles. Each team will manage with the appropriate style to ensure productivity. An extremely important improvement, when Mr. Rankin follows the promotion actions, the whole project will take a 180 degree turn for the better. Chicago team members will feel their voices are heard through increased communication with Mr. Rankin. They will also feel that their opinion is important when they are involved in the decision-making process. Since they see their family while working from home, their level of commitment to the project will change and the project will be completed on time.
